Program Summary
About the Program
The Emergency Medicine residency program, established in 2010, is four years in length. The primary goal of the Emergency Medicine Residency Program is to educate physicians in the unique body of knowledge and skills that comprise the discipline of Emergency Medicine. Central to this goal is the development of high level of competence in immediate recognition, evaluation and response to acute illness and trauma, and the initiation of primary care in nonemergency situations.
Secondary goals are encouraging leadership skills, scientific inquiry, creative problem solving, effective interpersonal skills, understanding ethical considerations in practice, and developing the habits of continuing education, personal well-being, and self-assessment.
At the end of the training program, the resident should be an outstanding clinician in Emergency Medicine.
