Academic Criteria
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in medicine or dentistry from a recognized college listed in the WHO directory of approved health institutions
- Typically, candidates should be within 2 years of graduating from medical/dental school
- IFOM Clinical Science Exam Results is preferable – applicable for Medical Internship only
Note:
For candidates with a degree awarded outside the UAE, Educational Credential Evaluators (ECE) – General with Grade Average evaluation is required to evaluate the transcripts and have a standard GPA (http://www.ece.org)

Note:
- Candidates who are native English speakers and have completed their most recent degree in an English-medium institution may be exempted from the English proficiency requirement subject to the approval of the relevant Committee
- Candidates can be exempted from certificate validity requirement subject to providing, along with the English certificate, a letter from the university confirming that the medium of instruction was in English.
Identification Documents
- Recent colored photo (in high-resolution format)
- Valid passport copy (for UAE Nationals add Ethbara page as well)

- Family Book (UAE nationals only)/Mother’s Family Book (For children of UAE national mothers) Valid Marsoom letter (for Marsoom holders only)

Academic Documents
- Undergraduate Degree Certificate. If the certificate is not yet issued, a Letter of Enrollment confirming the expected completion date will suffice.
- Undergraduate Academic Transcript. A notarized English translation of documents originally in a language other than Arabic or English is required.
- Results of English Proficiency Test (attained within the last 2 years) – if applicable
- Copy of Curriculum Vitae
- Educational Credential Evaluators (ECE) – General with Grade Average (if applicable)*
Note:

Portfolio
Supporting Documents for the following when applicable:
- IFOM Clinical Science Exam certificate – applicable for Medical Internship only
- Research activity (example; writing proposal, collecting data, analyzing data and writing a manuscript). Provide a copy of the IRB Approval letter, copy of the research proposal and letter from the research supervisor.
- Publication in a peer-reviewed journal. Provide a link to the article and a copy of the manuscript.
- Presentation in a scientific event (conference/symposium/workshop). Provide a certificate of participation as a presenter.
- Voluntary social/community activities. Provide certificate of participation.
- Participating in organizing or speaking in a community engagement event.
- The activity will be considered if supervised by a university, an official health association, or a government-licensed organization. The same should reflect on the supporting certificate.
- The activity will be considered if targeting the general public.
- The activity must have occurred since entry to medical/dental school and the date must be indicated on the certificate.
- Only two entries are accepted.
- Extra-Curricular Courses obtained since entry to medical/dental school (examples; Advanced life support, Point-of-Care Ultrasound Certificate (POCUS), Leadership, Quality etc). Provide certificate of attendance. Maximum of two courses.
- Academic Awards related to academic/research achievements obtained since entry to medical/dental school. (examples; Dean list, Best paper, Best research, Best presentation etc). Provide certificate of award.
Overview
All complete applications will be reviewed by the Admission Committee. An application will be considered complete once all required documents are successfully submitted through the online portal and the application fee is paid. The committee will consider all aspects of your application including your GPA and other academic and scholarly activities listed on your resume.
Medical Internship - Shortlisting Process
Medical Internship Portfolio Evaluation
The portfolio will be evaluated according to the following criteria:
- IFOM Part 2 - 1 Point (if score <40), 2 points (If score is 41 to 80), 3 points if score >=81)
- Research activity – 4 Points
- Publication – 7 Points
- Presentation in a scientific event – 4 Points
- Voluntary social/community activities (max two activities) - 4 Points each
- Extra-curricular courses (max two courses) - 4 Points each
- Academic Awards - 6 Points
Candidates will be notified of their shortlisting score via the online application form. Candidates will have to approve or object within 48 hours with justification. The committee will reassess the portfolio based on the justification provided and confirm the decision. Ranking will solely be based on merit; accordingly, candidates will be informed via email of their admission decision by the end of June after Cross Match.
Dental Internship - Shortlisting Process

Ranking will solely be based on merit and interview score; accordingly, candidates will be informed via email of their admission decision by the end of June after Cross Match.
What is Cross Match?
Cross Match is an important step in selection that involves the comparison of accepted candidates across the health authorities and entities in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) that provide training programs. When a candidate is shortlisted and ranked by two or more of these entities, they are contacted and given the opportunity to select their preferred entity for training. Once the candidate confirms their preference, the other authorities promptly remove the candidate’s name from their respective lists. This meticulous process is designed to guarantee that UAE graduates are afforded a fair opportunity to secure a training spot at an early stage in the process.

Note:
The seat reservation fee is non-refundable. For trainees who enroll in the program, the seat reservation fee will be deducted from their 1st semester installment.
Tuition charges are due and payable in full at the specified deadlines of each academic term, and the final responsibility for payment rests with the individual trainee and/or their sponsor. Trainees who have secured external scholarships covering their tuition must provide written confirmation before the initial payment deadline.
In the case of a withdrawal, a refund of 50% is possible within the first two weeks of the semester. No refunds will be processed or given after the second week of the academic semester. For more details, please refer to the Refund Policy below.
Trainees facing financial hardship can ask the Admission & Registration Division to reschedule payments on an exceptional basis over a longer period of time during the academic year.
Tuition Fee Refund Policy:
All tuition charges and fees are non-refundable, except as specified and summarized below:
- In the event of a trainee formally withdrawing from the university in the first semester, the following refund schedule will apply:
- 100% (excluding the seat reservation fees) if before the official beginning of the academic year.
- 50% of the total semester fees if before the end of the second week of classes
- No refund after the end of the second week of classes
- A full refund before the start of the term is possible in cases of
- If an applicant / trainee does not meet the academic admission / progression requirement as per published criteria
- Visa rejection
- If a trainee is awarded a scholarship (refund will be according to the granted amount)
- If a trainee does not meet the medical requirements
- For the continuing trainees (starting from semester 2 of the program):
- If the application form for withdrawal/deferral/drop of course was formally initiated prior to the start of the semester then the trainee is eligible for 100% refund.
Special Circumstances:
- The Director of Admission & Registration will request the formation of a committee to decide on tuition refund should an unexpected scenario occur.
- If an applicant cannot take up their seat at MBRU as a result of a situation that is outside of their control and was not publicly clear at the time of application or when fee commitments were made then the applicant may be entitled to a full refund of tuition fees and seat reservation. Examples include:
- State-wide resolution such as visa restrictions
- Late University regulation such as suspension / cancellation of a program
- Late progression decision
- The refund policy excludes the following:
- Application fee
- Seat holding fee
- Tuition fee in the event of dismissal for disciplinary reasons
- A penalty of AED 500 may apply for:
- Late payment
- Bounced cheque
